Both Sand (from Sand Lake) and Agawa (from Agawa Canyon) are accessed by train - I suppose you could fly in to Sand Lake & paddle out, but train is what people seem to do.  I like the idea too.  I've taken the Agawa Canyon train (to see the canyon), which is what got me interested in the whole Algoma area in the first place.
