I'm also looking to go this year but don't have a permit or trip planned.  I do have all my own gear and a potenial fishing buddy to go with, however he is not as experienced in a canoe and I'm wondering if it is best to do a "safe" trip before heading into the vastness of the Park.  For this situation, it might be nice to do a trip with two canoes, 4 people.
