Title: Anyone ever flown out of Nakina? Post by Mk631 on May 22nd, 2007 at 6:07pm
This is really not an "Other Places to Paddle" question -- more like "Other Places to Fish in N. Ontario", but here goes:
I'm just wondering if anyone's done a fly-in fishing trip out of Nakina. I had a friend tell me about one he did years ago that got my attention when the phrase "got tired of fishing" was used in the context of being physically tired from catching so many fish. :o It's now been added to my long-term list of dreams & recent first-hand info would be great. Thanks. -Tom |

My wife and I have done two fly in trips from Armstrong, which is just west of Nakina. One to the Wabakimi Park and another to the Attwood river near the Albany. Both times we had canoes at the outpost camps, besides the usual small motor boats so we could day trip in silence. What can I say? The wilderness of Northern Ontario is awesome in the full meaning of the word! And the fishing! Like it has always been for hundreds of years, probably like the BWCA was 200 years ago. If you can afford this not cheap but easy enterance to the wilderness, I highly recommend it. Two points; there are many outfitters in the area and many lakes, do some research before you decide; and ask the outfitter to supply a canoe at the camp!
