On BW sites, sometimes the grate is too high, so we take along an "S" hook shaped piece of old hanger wire, then use it to suspend pot or coffee pot down from grill, close to fire.  This also helps by adding free room on top if it is getting crowded with cooking pots.   ;)


Or just find some flat rocks and stick them under the grate before you build the fire to elevate your fire to the proper height beneath the grate.
