Title: Good for you Candy!

Its not often you can find a candy that is tasty and healthy at the same time.
I'm not a big Chocolate eater, but when I do, I like the dark, bittersweet kind, which has all the good antioxidants. Would be a great trip treat IF you can keep them from melting?

Here's a recipe from USA weekend magazine that I highly recommend!

 CHOCOLATE CHERRY CLUSTERS
  2 CUPS BITTERSWEET CHOCOLATE CHIPS
1 1/2 CUPS WHOLE GRAIN CHEERIOS CEREAL
  1 CUP DRIED CHERRIES
  1/2 CUP WALNUT PIECES

Melt chips in a double boiler (or microwave) until you can stir smooth.
Premix the other ingredients and add to chocolate and mix well until coated.
Drop tablespoon size portions on wax paper or baking sheet.
I used a table knife to help form clusters.
Refrigerate for 2 hours and ENJOY

Per cluster
 137 calories, 2g protein, 15g carbs, 10g fat (4g saturated), 0mg cholesterol, 2g fiber, 13mg sodium.

Now that looks good. For me, the walnuts will probably get replaced with almonds, though...

Actually, you could replace cherries with any dried fruit(s), and replace walnuts with any kind(s) of nuts.

My pick: dried blueberries & crasins w/ Pecans.

Yes, the dried fruits and choice of nuts doesn't really matter although you want to stick to the "healthy" nuts and the dried fruit should have antioxidant qualities.
The whole grain Cheerios is for the fiber which we all need as well as providing the "crunchy" texture.
The real point is that with a little effort you can have your sweet treat and get some health/nutritional benefits at the same time.
If you have small kids, they could easily help you make the clusters with your supervision.
I know a few with a good cup of coffee is hard to beat ;D
