I agree with the last part of your post, fresh is always the best.
Still leery of the stringer overnight though ?
I remember going down to get that stringer of Waldo's when I tripped with a group and some big snapper had left us nothing but a half-dozen heads  :'(
 I really hate it when THAT happens ;D
