OTB's worked great on my last cold water trip. Skinned out neoprene didn't have much of a evaporative cooling effect when the boots were wet. A 2mm NRS wetsock and a liner sock of NRS Hyroskin had about the same fit as a pair of smartwool hiking socks. I've got a pair of the discontinued Chota knee high wetsocks and they are thicker, about 3mm with a fleece liner. So I needed to remove one of the insoles to get it fitting right, left in the thin stiffer insole. I didn't take the Chota's on the trip though, just tested the fit. Traction on the wet river rocks was good, as was mud, grass, etc..

Good balance between ankle support and bulkyness, i.e. they still slid under a canoe seat OK while kneeling.

Probably one of those things you should 2 of incase they get discontinued too.
