Part of my planning is a list I have developed over 25 years in Quetico Park travel and 50 years of trekking of one sort or another. Sometimes, as the list gets transferred from one computer or another, items get deleted/lost/whatever. My list makes it easier for me to remember rarely used items that might turn out to be critical or the compass (or other item) that "I think" is in such-and-such a spot. I physically make a check next to each item as it gets loaded in the pickup.

Don't let Spartan 2 kid you. She's a little tougher than she lets on.
