Title: Quetico Wall Map Post by Chicken092 on May 25th, 2009 at 2:21pm
I have perused Amazon, Google etc. I am looking for a good Quetico map that I can frame and put up in my office. I used to have one I got from an outfitter while I was in high school but the map is long gone. Does anyone have any suggestions? Links?

I use the Quetico Foundation sattelite map, as well. I had it custom framed because of the "non-standard" size of the map. Rather expensive, but the result was spectacular! I highly recommend it!!

I have the Quetico Foundation map, but not the sattelite one. MOst days I stop and gaze at it as I pass out the bedroom door.

My satellite map is in a frame behind my desk. Whenever I feel too stressed, I just turn around and think about where to go next.

I have the Quetico foundation map also, had it framed in black metal frame. It is a great map. Kim

Looks like I'm missing the boat, or canoe with my Fisher map. Maybe I need to check out the Quetico Foundation map. :)

ANY map of the Q is a good map! I was fortunate enough to have the wall-space to put up the full-sized Fisher maps all pasted together on my basement wall. I really wanted to use McKenzies, but the scale on them was just a bit too large to fit floor-to-ceiling. The slightly smaller scale of the Fishers was just right. I love my wall map and the grandiose dreams it continually spawns. My trans-Quetico trip via the less-travelled sections of the park was directly inspired by time spent daydreaming in front of this map. Mrs. Snow_Dog just rolls her eyes when she sees me down there "plotting and scheming" yet another trip. I'm quite confident I'll run out of lifetime long before before I run out of trips, and I'm hopefully a long way away from either possibility. |

Amen, Tom! I don't have any of the above maps, but do have a '93 vintage Quetico Foundation map. While I don't have a hanging wall map, my map case is never put away and pictures from trips gone by adorn my walls. Mrs. JJcanoeguide wonders how I can review maps for hours at a time, completely oblivous to what's going on in the "real world". I just chalk it up to an escape to a state of mind that makes me just a little more sanguine. Plus, I think all of us would agree that in most ways, the Quetico/BW is the "real world". |

Me too, I'm envious Riversend; I had a chance to pick up a map case like that years ago from a retired engineer and passed it up at the time. I wish I had it now. starwatcher |

snowdog: one of the maps is a 1970 Providence of Ontario, Dept. of Land and Forests map titled "Agness Lake". It is 24"x17' and covers a good part of Q. Scale 1" to 2 miles. Several of the same series maps of covering the remaing portions of Q and a few U.S. G.S. quad maps (about 50) covering N.E. MN. and a couple 1948 Superior N.F. timber survey maps were also included :)
the drafting table to the right of the map case was also included in the lot of stuff I bid on, but those items aren't what I was bidding on, but I had to take them.......to get what I wanted ;D. The map case I wanted and was outbid on was Oak with brass hardware...now that was a nice map case ;D Quetico_map.jpg ( 66 KB | 2
