Title: Is there a way to (legally) avoid going to a ranger station?
Post by Jackfish on Jun 5th, 2009 at 2:10am
A friend asked the question today because he thought there was a way to pay camping fees online somehow, thus avoiding the trip to the ranger station to pay them in person.  I told him that "in person" was the only way allowed.

Was I right or is there some method I'm not aware of?

Your talking about Quetico right?  I'm not aware of ay other way than in-person although I have paid on my way out before.  (Sometimes the weather does not alow one to make the BH Ranger on the day of entry.)  :-/

A little depends on time of year and entry. You don't always NEED to appear at your designated entry station. Atikokan, Dawson will usually issue any northern permit. Off season is self serve, honor system...

There's no way to pay online.

Thanks all.  Your answers were as I expected because I'm sure I would have heard something by now if it were allowed.  You confirmed it.  Thanks again.
