Even though it's part of the natural order, you always hate too see the young one's demise.
Eagles are the master's of their realm, but danger lurks from below as well.
I was observing a mother loon and her chicks from shore one morning and in an instant, there was swirl in the water and a chick was gone.
The mom frantically got the survivors out of the area.
I suspect a large NP got the chick.
Nature for all it's beauty is still all about the survival of the fittest.
Something dies, so another can live.
Hard for some too understand IF they've only seen nature thru a feel good type nature movie.
Still, I would take a few more Loons over a NP any day ;)
