Yes.  That is accurate.  He had no intention of making things right when we returned.  He wanted us to just go away.  He knew he was wrong; that much was clear.  But he resisted accepting responsibility until he was certain I was not going to let him off the hook.  He actually said to me, "Nick (the teenager who packed the trip) doesn't have $1000.00 to give you."  As if to say, "it was his fault, not mine!"  I looked straight at him, and said, " John, Nick's personal financial situation is irrelevant here.  If his name were on the sign out front, then this would be Nick's problem."
