Title: Update on Spartan1
Post by Spartan2 on Jul 22nd, 2009 at 11:44pm
It was six months yesterday since Spartan1 had his kidney transplant. He had his checkup with the nephrologist at the University of Michigan today and everything is going well.

He feels good and his energy level, while not back to pre-kidney disease status, is returning to a more normal state. He will always have a few restrictions to deal with but we are looking forward to living life fully within those guidelines.

We got the "green light" for our vacation in Minnesota, which is planned for late August and early September. This will include a week at a cabin near Ely, and a six-day canoe trip in the BW out of Sawbill. It can be as challenging as we choose to make it, or a base-camping trip if we decide that is all we are up to doing this year. Just being back at a campfire in the BW will be enough for now.

Life is good. Thanks to all of you who have expressed concerns, who have prayed for him, or who have offered up an encouraging word. I hope to post a trip report sometime around September 10th.

I'll bet no one will enjoy his/her trip more than you two this year!  I'm happy for you both. :)

Spartan 2 -- you'll get a kick out of this. When you are in the wilderness and want to commune with the Creator -- it's a local call.
