Loon shots were taken the 1st week in July, 2009. We were heading from North Bay to Burke Lake on our way out, and these shots were taken just before the portage leading out of North Bay. Early in the morning; pair of loons. My daughter-in-law just zoomed in on this guy and probably took 30 pics with her digital, and caught this guy preening and stretching. Several of the frames turned out really nice.
I like the eagle pics because they are such majestic birds, but these loon pics are my  favorites. Loons are synonymous with the northwoods, at least for me. And when they open up and preen like this, they're absolutely stunning.
