Title: Time in Atikokan Post by Mk631 on Jan 15th, 2010 at 6:24pm
I recall that Atikokan does something odd with their timezone - like stay on EST all year or something like that. Does anyone recall? I'm planning the long drive for this year's trip & want to have an idea of what time I'll get there, local time.
Thanks. -Tom |

Thunder Bay is a different time zone. Q is CST.

Thunder Bay is the place that seems to be in the wrong time zone. Based on geography it probably should be in CTZ but it is in ETZ because they wanted to be in the same time zone with most of the heavily populated parts of Ontario. About 1/2 way from Thunder Bay to Atikokan it switches to CTZ. All of Quetico and Atikokan are on CTZ.

2999 as I type! PS: I found this in the Atikokan wikipedia article: "Atikokan is in the Central Time Zone but observes Central Daylight Time year round." FWIW, CDT = EST Less than 6 months & I'll be there! -Tom |
