Wet booting for years. Run smartwool, the models that dont have the loops inside-dry faster IMHO, in combination with a redwing gore boot-know the limitations of the boot and its sole. Also run coolmax socks, synthetic-fast drying and durable/more so the patagonia's cap socks, during the warmer times of year. Last year during a mid-oct. trip made a switch to a chota boot, with additional inner sole and ran a coolmax liner (nearly a mid weight sock) and a smartwool second sock; stayed toasty warm and the socks dried everynight. Did slip with chota's, but did not biff it, once...new foot wear always freaks me out a bit...but I like the chotas...I am sold! Never have run neoprene...That's my two cents.
