The idea was to have a QJ Member fish photo album.  Just a picture, date, location, etc...  whatever you wanted to share I guess.  Keep it on topic, make comments, have fun and good luck this summer!  Please imbed the photo - no external links to click through.  Kind of an in-line fish only POD No prizes - just bragging rights.

This was all PJ's good idea. I'm just helping him set it up.

I, for one, am slowly starting to understand that if a minimal decorum isn't achieved that the site will degrade to the lowest common denominator. I point the finger at no one as I have 4 pointing back at me. Some of my stuff has been a bit juvenile as well, all in an attempt for a laugh. Lord knows we could all use a good chuckle in this day and hour. There is, however, a time and a place.

I don't envy the mods job. A fine line is to be walked. Without some parameters chaos would rule and few if any would enjoy what seems to be the best forum around.

I think PJ's idea is a good one and I bet we will all derive some enjoyment from it. Instead of giving him jazz I believe he should be thanked.

OK, it's June 1st and still no fish pics. What gives? They don't have to be big ones, it's not a contest.

I will be posting my wee little fishes. Plus I'm not all that purdy. Notice I said little fishes. That's because that's mostly what I catch. Plus you folk have put the guilt trip to me so I'll probably be spending an inordinate amount of what could be "big fish" fishing time manning the outback oven making brownies for the bottomless pit (AKA... a 14 year olds stomach). Whew, that takes the pressure off  ;).  

Ok here is a little story about my son's tropy 44" Nothern caught last week.

Were were base camping on Sturgeon Lake and fishing near Scripture Island. It was very cool, windy and raining off and on, at times raining hard and at times no rain at all. I had just caught a 20" walleye on a troll crossing a rocky point. It had an old battle scar near it's tail that was well healed. It was mid-afternoon so I put it on the stringer to save for dinner. My stringer is just a long piece of para-cord with a caribiner tied to the end. I slit the lower jaw of the fish and stick the caribiner through. It will hold about 3 medium sized walleyes. The fish was securely trailing behind the canoe, and we decided to make another trolling pass on the rocky point. I heard a loud splash. I thought it was the Walleye getting a bit fiesty. Looking into the water I saw, about 4 feet down, there was a huge northern with my dinner in its mouth. It was clamped on pretty good, I could see the head of the walleye sticking out one side of the jaw and the tail sticking out the other. I grabbed the para-cord and pulled the pike to the surface. I was tempted the try to reach down and grab it, when I heard my son say "NO Dad, DONT!" I battled with the pike for about 30 seconds, holdin on to the cord, before he let go. It pulled the back end of the canoe around, quite a bit as we both were tugging back and forth on the cord.

Dan started to throw some big baits, trying to catch it, as he suspected it was still hanging around looking for a meal. He tried the F18 FT Rapala, that he'd caught his 42" on the day before, then the PIG, then the Suick. That did it! He hooked the fish and battled it for about 25 min., while I paddled to the shoreline. He jumped out of the canoe and unhooked it for this photo. We made sure to revive it thoroughly and it swam away freely.

Is that a real birch bark basket? Is there a story with that?

Caught this 47" pike on my most recent trip to the Q.  Estimated weight is 30# (it bottomed out my scale so I had to use the length calculation to arrive at that figure).

Old Salt had to really struggle to fit the whole fish in the photo. That's the largest northern I've ever witnessed caught. Truly the fish of a lifetime. Nice job, Snowdog! BTW, it only took 1/2 hour or so to land her.

Any guesses as to the magic bait? It wasn't one of the 'standard' pike lures.

No, a rainbow trout swimbait while trolling a reef for waldos. ;)

My school group fished on Ensign - northwest bay - caught ~ 50 pike, 10 bass, 2 walleye, 1 perch in 3 days with rapalas and spoons.   ;)

You are a brave man. You scooped up that whopper pretty quickly. I'm a big chicken and ususally let 'em float next to the boat a while before I make the grab. I had a bad experience a few years ago trying to hand land a hot pike.

I see you used the same trick I do to attact the big pike.

yes it is and i got hooked the same day i got a 43 in pike so that made up for it!

From recent trip. Solid 48" maybe a little better. Hit on a 1/4oz reef runner.

Well I've been giving other people a hard time about not posting fish pics and I still haven't figured out how to reduce the KB size of my pics.  :-/

Personally, I'd have enjoyed the humor much more w/o the new name. This too shall pass sissy boy poster child. Perfect pitch notwithstanding.  ::)
