Title: Re: Lunch ideas? Post by mastertangler on May 3rd, 2010 at 5:36am
DD
The granola w/blueberries and milk packs 6oo calories. It's funny, I don't remember getting hungry much on backpacking or canoe trips. It's always more about fuel for me I think. I drink lots and lots of water though..........I like to be clear and copious as the saying goes. I also have a real weakness for a full size snickers bar daily on a trip (the ONLY time I eat them). Those things can really power me through. So many trips and so little time. I have 2 canoe trips slated this summer. One to the Q and one to Isle Royale. My buddy had mentioned having plenty of leftover freeze dried food to take to the Q this summer but I told him to save it for next summers backpacking trip to Glacier. It was news to him, we'll see if his wife will lets him go ;D. I had also hoped to be standing on Mt. Ranier the summer I turn 50 (at least that was the plan). I have been within 3 hours of the top on 3 different occasions. It's like another world up there.....I love the high country. But since I hit the big five "0" this summer............well, I guess I'll just have to wait a bit. This blasted canoe bug has bitten me pretty hard......but I can't imagine I won't slap a pack on sooner or later. Try the Granola w/blueberries and milk at least 1 time. I wouldn't steer you wrong. Good luck in Colorado..........Took the family to Rocky Mountain N.P. last summer. Lots for everyone to do (rafting, horseback etc.). I snuck off for a few hours everyday to do some hikes and to fish. Small fish compared to Glacier but so beautiful. Lots and lots of wildlife there. |
