Title: Long Trip Meals
Post by Drewfus on May 14th, 2010 at 6:28pm
After reading the lunch thread I started thinking about my upcoming trip. The longest wilderness trip I've been on was 10 days (twice @ Philmont). The thing is, we resupplied half way through. Short of that, I've packed for 7 day trips many times both backpacking and canoe/kayak camping. The lunch thread got me thinking about meal planning for this year (which is a 14 day pure solo trip). Dinners are easy, breakfast too. What is a concern to me is the lunches. I usually do simple lunches, even on layover days. Primarily two power bars, venison jerky and gatorade OR chicken salad on crackers or tortillas with gatorade. The first option WILL work for me, but will be heavy and get routine FAST. The second option is even heavier. I'm curious as to what other longer trippers do for lunch meals (and the other meals as well).
