Last year I started carrying a camp chair which I felt was well worth it's wieght. Well, it sort of fell apart as it was a sort of cheap one. Is thier a good light wieght chair preferrably with some back support out there?

I'm a stool man myself. At 1 lb and easy to move around when breaking camp (I like to sit to perform a lot of chores.....stuffing tents and bags etc.). But my buddy brought the most incredibly comfortable chair I have yet to sit in. It's not for me as I already carry way to much weight but man oh man was it nice.

Of course the drawback is it weighs quite a bit. (4lb) But super well made. We'll be draggin a few of them in pretty soon.

I don't pack a chair, yet.  Well, on lazy no portage trips sure I'll pack a deck chair.

Also another option is one of those Thermarest chair conversion kits.

If you sit still, I don't I fidget and fuss, you could try the nadachair   (You need to Login or Register.  It's not a chair.  It's a sling you hook around your knees and it supports your lower back forcing good posture.

Crazy Creek canoe chair. It straps on to the existing canoe seat, provides back support, and will come off to be used around camp. I like it b/c it is dual purpose and lightweight. On portages I keep it attached to the seat.

I still like the simple old tripod stool not for comfort but because it packs so easy. It serves the purpose of keeping me off my knees and easing the stress on the back when doing chores. I don't use it for just sitting around...there is very little of that in my camps

Brought (one) something similar last year and strapped the Sit-backer canoe seat on in camp... Solid!

I switched to the Crazy Creek III for canoe trip use and thought it worked well enough for me and a bit lighter then the CGI. My tripping partner did not like the valve placement on the Crazy Creek III chair.

Hey KF,
You and I like the same set-up. Gotta have it. A little tougher to find is the backpackers version of the tri-pod stool. At exactly 1 lb and made of aluminum instead of steel it is 1/2 the weight. It's also twice the price at $20. You might have to dig a bit on the net to find it but they're out there.

I have been taking my two boys (now 11 and 13) with me the last year or so and the duffer sits in the Crazy Creek Chair in the middle of the boat.  Works out real well, and I have a nice chair for in camp.  It folds and straps to one of the packs for the partages.
I don't know if it is a "canoe" chair.  It is the one that sits about 6" off the ground on a lightweight metal folding frame.  Mine is a funky "Cow" print (like the old Gateway computer boxes) so I got it at a huge discount.  :)

I laughed when a girl friend that gave me this wilderness La-Z-Boy. That had to be 20 years before this picture was taken. I stopped laughing after my first trip nap in it and the reviews rallied from there. I think it's a Crazy Creek - fits over my thremarest of a slightly earlier vintage. The Rubbermaid is good by it's self if you will only be sitting for a few or you're cooking but a backrest in camp is a must for me.

Where it really excels is anytime you'll be sitting for more than a few minutes. Eating, starwatching ... heck, I power nap in that thing with a bandanna over my face to keep the bugs off and have slept overnight sitting in it once when I was just too lazy to retire to the tent.

A classic aluminum webbed lawn chair or beach chair.  Around 3.5 pounds.  If you can find one, a tragedy they do not make them anymore.

This is the chair that I referred to in my post above.  I guess it is not a Crazy Creek but a Crazy Legs "beach" chair.  Works well.  :)
