Title: Re: Some recent BWCA press Post by DentonDoc on Jul 7th, 2010 at 4:43pm
And what's the big deal about differential pricing? Its not unique to Quetico.
As I write this, I'm sitting in Colorado. Yesterday, I purchased a fishing license ... residents: $26, non-residents: $56. Last night I attended "Roof Top Rodeo" in Estes Park ... highest, by altitude, in the world. Ticket prices for general admission ... residents: $5, non-residents: $17. A few years ago, I was spending a little time in the mountains of northern New Mexico. I bought gasoline at the local station a couple of days before Memorial Day. Two days later the price had jumped by $.20 a gallon in preparation for tourist arrivals. Ever take the train in Italy? Locals pay 1/3rd the price that tourist get to pay? Ever rented a car, stayed at a hotel or motel away from home? Guess what, visitors get to pay a "special" tax for the priviledge of being a vistor. ... and the list goes on-and-on! dd |
