Title: Portage Database
Post by monjon on Jul 6th, 2010 at 9:02pm
Dave, I hope I am not bring up a sore subject.  I had checked the database before I went on my annual trip last week and noticed that there was no info on the two I wanted to learn about.  So I made notes and wrote up an entries.  I then noticed that the last update was Dec 08.

Is the database no longer in favor? Should we continue to submit info?

Thanks, John B

No, well maybe but...

Everything people send QJ out of the goodness of their hearts goes up eventually. So ya, submit if you wish. Beth, Grace, Phoebe on the 4th - got em.

nctry_Ben, when? What did the message say? I turned off the error logging on that years ago at the request of our hosting company. It got big. Big enough for even for them to notice. QJ actually uses all the resources it pays for, a real novelty to them.

It's a hands on thing. I began compiling the hundreds submitted over the last two years in spring. Got em down to 133 that look real at first glance.  Problem is the program and scripts I used last time no longer play well with my current OS and the PDB is the only use I'd currently have for an update so ... Let's say I'm hoping for a miracle or looking for a better way. Perhaps Google Apps....

I did post a searchable table of the 133 in the Inukshuk forum and started sending it to those who included emails with their submissions. The first few bounced or were rejected as spam and I've since forgotten all about it. If someone wants a copy, um, PM me. I haven't read through them though. I made all the obvious spam go away but there could be some sneaky  hot porn, drug, gold, and casino tips in there so I can't just put it up. Spam is far less automated and rather desperate lately, around here anyway, been there done that.

Dave, I don't understand that technical programing stuff.  I appeciate that you're working on it.  If I understand correctly you maintain the site by yourself.  So... a big thanks for doing that.  I'll be patient.
