Title: What to do with my catch?
Post by Kerry on Jul 13th, 2010 at 8:57pm
Maybe I’m over thinking but as a noob to backcountry fishing I have this question.  Let’s say it’s around 10 am and I’m trolling a line in Batchewaung Bay and catch a couple nice meal size Walleye.  But I’m planning on camping at Jesse which means a few hours of paddling and a couple of portages.  What should I do with the Walleye?:
a)      keep them on a stringer in the lake as long as possible though they’re going to die on the portage
b)      fillet them asap and carry the fillets in a plastic bag with water
c)      gut the fish but don’t fillet them until I get to camp
d)      throw them back and wait to catch something closer to camp
e)      other
What’s the best way to handle this scenario?
Thanks for your help.
Kerry
