Title: Re: Minn Lake campsites Post by GeneM on Jul 16th, 2010 at 6:48pm
Snow Dog,
There is an Island on the South side of the lake, almost due south of where the Darky River flows out of the lake. There are a group of 4 islands and it is the "middle one" in the group. It is 7B in the PCD. We camped there in the first week of Aug '09. Yes it has been somewhat worn, and there are signs of TP on the E end, but it is nice and open. Lots of places to put tents. Old Grey Goose may be a little harsh in his assesment, after all it's a perimeter lake. If you want prime go further into the park. Also, site 74 is a decent site as well. I have stayed there a couple of times. It is more sheltered but the landing isn't as nice, and it is not very open, but there are 2 decent flat spots for tents. I don't know what the comments about "burned out" are about, we paddled right past there last year and it looked fine. It is not used as much as 7B. Check them both out and make your choice. Hope this helps. Good luck and keep your stick on the ice. GeneM |
