I looked at my maps last night and thought I'd like to see Brule, Long Island and Cherokee Lakes and perhaps further if weather and time permits.  It looks like it is hard to go anywhere in that area without at least a couple portages over the 100 rod range  >:(  I think if I leave the kitchen sink home I could get my trips down to two per portage.  ;D
I'm going to town tomorrow so will pick up some more detailed canoe maps at the LaCroix Ranger Station which is located in my home town of Cook.  I'm hoping there are alternate routes around some of those longer portages.  :-?
I think Brule is entry #41.  I looked at the availability on Rec.gov today and most permits for the area are still available, especially after the 15th.
