BTW, of course don't attach to the middle of the canoe ( yolk ) where you will be broadside to the lake, but from the rear thwart you are safe as a bedbug. If you feel you are unsafe simply pull the sock in & the canoe will straighten out as the sock will pull your canoe straight from behind. Then paddle where you need to go to be happy.
In big water I feel safer with the sock out to steady the canoe while fishing.
