I'm with you chief. I find them utterly fascinating and yet I am repelled all at the same time. I am amazed at the size of some of the wolf spiders in canoe country. On this past summers trip my buddy went to put on his mukluks in the morning and a whopper spidey crawled out and up his thigh. I'm not sure which one of us yelled the loudest ;D. He batted it off and then squished it before I could stop him. Not much sense in ending its life at that point I reckon.
