Title: Canvas Post by marlin55388 on Nov 19th, 2010 at 10:37pm
So here is the deal....been on a bit of a search for high quality canvas for a hot tent. I know it is a bit of a limb, so be it. Been searching in various formats for a source of something better than 10 oz sunforger with fireproofing. I know about ventile, and the issues with sourcing the textile. The reason I am searching here is that it is a divergent venue so I am hopeful that it will yield some sources that I have not been aware of. Thanks in advance.

If you have the cash, I hear egyptian cotton is best.

Hey Marlin,
Great news you can stitch your own canvas hot tent, that's what I did for about the third the price. Internal "A" frame using extending paint poles made of fiberglass as well for the ridge pole too. Used 36"10oz sun forged fire rated canvas material, mine is 12'x12' and also has an 18" short wall that are easy to pull out. The tent wieghs 36#'s, minus poles, snow stakes, stove and stove pipe, ground clothe and other misc. Using an uphostry sawing machine it took about some 10-12 hours to complete. I have not been disapointed since. let me know if you hve any question? //Windsailor QJ-tent1_001.jpg ( 26 KB | 0

The tent looks good. Where did you find the canvas?

Here's a pic of the inside that shows the paint poles at the ridge, "A" frame and coupling bracket or connector that keeps them all together; this peice I had to custome weld.

Any place that sells it for about $5.00 a yard is a pretty good price. [smiley=thumbup.gif]
