Well, there is another consideration, especially if you are flying up.  Putting the rods in a rod case and putting them on the plane is no longer free.  On my WCPP trip last year, I flew to Minneapolis to meet up with other members of the crew.  I'd cached some of my gear at Jimbo's house from a previous trip to Quetico.  Rather than bringing rods back home, I "gifted" the cheap rods to Jimbo!  (He was free to add them to his trash if he liked.)
