Mastertangler, after reading your write up I got one of those smoke jumpers belt too. I like it all except for the velcro set up that secures the end of the belt. As near as I can tell the buckle will hold it's place without the end of the belt being secured. I'm tempted to remove those velcro patches, may I ask do you still use the velcro setup? I guess I'm just a crank but I have never liked the stuff.
Best Wishes, Rob

Geez.......I love the stuff. I like the speed and infinite adjustability. I had another belt which worked by friction to hold its place but it was always coming loose by the end of the day. I also like that there is no loose ends and I can secure the end of the belt quickly and easily OVER my pants belt loops.......I'm all about no hassle (it is amazing I put up with the sport of fishing which is just another word for hassle  ;) )

ST.......as per the added weight of my belt gear. Lets see, bear spray(1lb), steri pen, camera, seal pup knife, water bottle all within reach (ahhhhh  :) )........Yikes, I had to get rid of the ninja throwing darts  ;)

OK.......I know you are being serious, and you make an excellent observation well worth consideration. Being an average sized guy at 185 I wouldn't think an extra 5lbs around the mid section would matter all that much.........(I put that on during a big meal  ;D ) I wouldn't want to have that gear on without the 35lbs of buoyancy the Mustang inflatable provides that is for sure.

Actually my greatest concern with the stuff on my belt is an entanglement issue with the side straps on my seat. I intend to sew some mesh material in place to alleviate that potential.
