Title: Goldseekers outfitters Post by mastertangler on Jan 13th, 2011 at 5:00pm
I came across a PM on another forum (everglades exploration network) that informed me that Goldseekers is no longer in business. I know this is how rumors start but I am wondering if this could be true.

To our knowledge here in Red Lake, Goldseekers is still in business.

Thank you. I have just emailed Goldseekers to inquire about shuttle service this summer. If Goldseekers are a go I will inquire further concerning my source and try and track down how this started. Tough enough to run a business without misleading info! >:( |

Thanks for the info.
I emailed Harlan at Red Lake Outfitters last night and have gotten a response this morning. To drop me at Lund and then drop my truck off 2 1/2 weeks later at leano would be $265. Of course that doesn't include the high % Canadian added tax which is very distasteful but overall seems doable. |

MT -
I've used Goldseekers and they did a very good job for us a couple years back. Albert is very knowledgeable and entertaining. However, various folks are reporting that outfitting in WCP has seemingly become a secondary thing for him. In addition, I have always found Albert somewhat difficult to reach & to get a return phone call from. Not impossible... just difficult. If he had simply returned my phone call some seven years ago, I would likely have discovered & travelled WCP several years earlier than I eventually did. Last year we met Harlan while we were obtaining our permit at the park office. I had read many of his posts in the WCP forum of the solotripping.com website & knew of him. We had a nice conversation & I remember being very impressed with his entrepreneurial spirit. I suspect would-be WCP canoeists will find Harlan to be hungry for their business, eager to satisfy their needs, and quite competent with respect to providing good info on the park. Such is my take on it, anyway. Jimbo 8-) |

To add to the rumors....
I heard at Canoecopia last year that Albert couldn't make a full time go of it, and is pursuing making a living in other ways (but still outfitting part-time?) Sounded kind of sketchy. prouboy |

This was how Goldseekers was operating in June last year. Both Albert and Kelly were engaged in other pursuits outside the outfitting business. But, I did get a shuttle to Leano (which was my only "outfitting" requirement). So, in short, they successfully met my needs, albeit with a part-time employee...was his first shuttle trip to Leano. But, as Jimbo related ... not the quickest communication cycle. dd |

I'll be going up in August, and will try to give them my business, if they let me! They're good people.
