Anybody have suggestions on helmet cams to use in Quetico? Did a search and could not find this topic.

Considering that all the headturning could result in a dizzying video, a camera mounted to a gunwale or thwart might work better. I'm not sure a helmet would be comfortable on a hot day...

If you mount on to the canoe, my wife and I have been thinking about experimenting with this next year and it seems like gorilapads will work best for this. Haven't tried it yet since the water is still hard but that's the first route we plan on trying.

I have used a Gorilla pad for the past 3 years and it works great. I leave on through protages and have yet to loose it. (You need to Login or Register

On the serious side, this item might be a good bet IF you have a digital camera that shoots HD. I'm sure you could attach to PFD or pack-strap and get some decent video's. The link has reviews of the top waterproof surf cameras that might prove useful IF you in the market for a new waterproof outdoor camera?

you might want to do a search for that topic on NPMB or Cboats.net - people there use helmet cams.

The Hero GoPro HD 960 has a protective casing that makes it water submersible and impact proof. I use it for teaching swim stroke technique (attached to a pole, recording the swimmer from underneath) and cycling (mounted on my helmet).

It has a band for head-mounting, which I'm planning to in the BW this year.

Another vote here for the GoPro Hero. I mounted one onto the side of my solo canoe with the suction cup mount so it's easy to remove for portages. It's a fisheye-lens-style camera so you can get a full field of view without having the camera too far away to turn on and off as needed.

The housing is waterproof which is a great feature for a camera that you'll be using on the water. The main drawback of being waterproof is that means it's pretty much soundproof as well, so if you want sound to go with your video you are out of luck.

There are all sorts of mounting options for it so you can attach it to almost anything or anyone.

It works underwater so theoretically I could mount it underwater and get some video of landing fish from under the surface. Haven't tried this yet, but I will sometime.
