Title: Canoe Camping in Quetico with disabilities
Post by john seng on Feb 7th, 2011 at 9:10pm
I am planning a trip this Summer with several Boy Scouts.  One of the Scouts spends most of his day in a wheelchair.  I have taken Scouts several times over the years.  Personally, I've made over 40 trips and pretty well can handle most situations.  However, this year's trip offers a
new challenge.  I have researched the forum and found several items concerning camper with disabilites posted back in 2009.  I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into what will make this trip special for this Scout.

We are planning to enter Quetico at the Black Robe Portage and spend the week camping on Minn Lake.  We will be using Campbell's Cabins for canoes and tows.  While I have visited many Quetico Lakes over the years, Minn Lake will be new to me.  Any suggestions as to portage conditions, campsites, and equipment would be helpful.  I think we will take a Sat. phone just in case we need to get out early.
