Title: Re: What is the ideal size? Post by Mountain_Paddler on Feb 28th, 2011 at 12:38pm
Thanks for the reassurance, MasterTangler. We're going into Q at Beaverhouse and coming and getting picked up where Maligne River enters into Lac La Croix. For no reason except my nickname is Wink, we are thinking of going to Wink Lake if the first part of the trip goes real smoothly. We were told to do that by going Maligne River to Poohbah Lake and then Poohbah Lake to Wink Lake and then same route in return. We were told to stay away from the boggy junk that is between Wink Lake and Maligne River. Anyhow, most everything is very well trod and it doesn't bother me. But one of the posts about Maligne River to Poohbah Lake said they looked forever for it and finally gave up. And so I was imagining doing that at 70 years old, walking in heavy-duty mud, carrying more than by back will handle, and still not knowing where I am going. You are very reassuring; thanks. Is this double portaging thing the norm? We wouldn't even dream of such a duplication of effort in our previous mountain experience. What do most folks do who are up in years? Is the double portage thing the norm?
