Hello. I'm new to this forum so bear with me, please.
My wife and I have paddled in the BWCA. We have owned several canoes including our present canoe a Mad River Malecite and, a long time ago, a Willits canoe.
We are considering a more seaworthy canoe for the Puget Sound area where we live and one of the canoes under consideration is the Langford 17'4" Prospector. We like its classic look, an important criterion.
Does anyone out there have any experience with the brand or this model?

nope - but you made me curious enough to look, since I woud have thought you'd be shopping clipper

curious, the 17'4 only has "slight" rocker, as compared to 16'6" with 2 1/2" of rocker - based on that, I'd think 16'6' would be a better choice

Clipper "Sea Clipper" ? name suggests it might be worth a look

I'd think you'd be looking for rocker and flare and depth for big water performance

Wenonah Rogue 3" rocker and flare and depth for whitewater too -

but maybe I'm guessing at the wrong conditions you'd get in the sound

Mad_Mat, thanks for your perspective. (I'm still fumbling around a bit trying to post, etc. to this website.)
I did look on-line at the Clipper you mentioned, but think that it is not the canoe that my wife and I want.
I really should post here our criteria (if I can "paste" them in).

• More seaworthy than our Malecite (more freeboard, higher ends.)
• Lightweight, but probably not as light as the Malecite. 58 pounds max?
• Attractive. (The Langford Prospectors are more attractive to me than the Malecite because of their more pronounced sheer.
• Mostly for flat water, hence tracks as well as the Malecite
• Seats suitable for kneeling and sitting.
• No tractor or bucket seats.

I find Langfords to be about $500 over-priced. Paddled a Prospector & Nahanni. Nothing special, but the Nahanni *feels* very tippy in the bow.

Maybe things are different in your area. I'd compare prices to Souris or Wenonah.
