Title: trolling 3 lines Post by jaximus on May 27th, 2011 at 12:47am
so my mind has been going crazy thinking about my trip this summer. im thinking about taking 2 baitcast rods instead of the usual 1 caster, 1 spinning. with this different rod configuration i would be able to troll 2 rods from the back of the canoe and my partner troll one from the front.
to accomplish this, i was thinking we could longline 2 rods as usual, one from each side of the canoe, and for the third, i was thinking of taking a large bottom bouncer, say 2oz, with a shallow diving plug and running this as at a pretty steep angle so that it was not quite under the canoe. maybe it would take a 3oz? so my question is would this be feasible, or is the 3rd rod going to make more hassle than its worth? is there any better way to troll with 3 rods? |

I think your answer is to have 3 people in the canoe. ;D
Unless I read the reg's (both Ontario and Minnesota) wrong, each angler is only permitted 1 line in the water at a time (assuming you are not ice fishing or fishing on Lake Superior). dd |

well that puts an end to that idea. thanks DentonDoc for bringing that to my attention. i did a little searching and found this passage in the 2011 ontario fishing regulations
Hooks and Lines – An angler may use only one line, unless otherwise stated in the regulations. Two lines may be used when angling from a boat in parts of the Great Lakes (see exceptions to the general regulations) and for ice fishing in many areas (see Ice Fishing, page 11). A fishing line must not have more than four hooks attached. and i didnt find any 'otherwise stated' stuff concerning quetico park. owell i guess |
