Title: Gear aid water repellant
Post by mastertangler on May 28th, 2011 at 3:08am
Well I finally got around to trying out the water proofing treatment that ST suggested on my gore tex.

My gore tex had become tired.........even though I baby it and wouldn't dream of subjecting it to rough treatment it still didn't really bead water anymore. To be honest, I hadn't really noticed until we started talking about it on the forum.

I followed the instructions to the letter including using the cleaner before the application of the repellant. I am so impressed! Water doesn't even hit my raingear before it beads and bounces off  ;). Excellent!

I purchased at campmor as per ST's suggestion.

ReviveX® works well. There is another as I recall. Either way, you're doing what, like a three week trip? Your GT whatever could revert to it's previous stage after a while but my best guess would be sweat is what will get you the wettest.

Looks like I'm going to be stuck out there for a whole freakin month db since the big show in Chicago stuck me on the wait list. I'll show them......fine, I'll just go canoeing for another week, so there :P. A month, it has a certain ring to it.........sort of scary though. Will I get sick of catching fish and paddling around? I mean after a couple weeks what's the point? I guess I'll find out if I'm cut out for a month alone. Not going to be much choice in the matter since my truck is going to be dropped at a different EP far, far away at a later date. Besides, being from the whereahwee's (where-ah-wee's) native tribe I might need the extra time  ;D.

These mid-life crisis are getting annoying. On one hand is a little red sports car and a blonde and on the other I can go canoeing and swat skeets. Since my wife would kill me if I took choice #1 it looks to be the deet route.  ::)

My rain gear will stay just the way it was when I took it out of the dryer. In fact I probably won't even have to use it.  ;)

In any event this is the first time I have used anything like this and it looks to work swell. [smiley=thumbup.gif]

Didn't you hear? They took Chicago down when Oprah called it quits.  ;)

The key is to marry a blonde who loves little red sports cars.  Worked for me!  [smiley=thumbup.gif]
