The #1 rule is figure out how much you can afford before you go in. I never do that and over spend every time. As a consequence I have literal piles of lures and tackle boxes that I probably couldn't use in 2 lifetimes.

im going to ignore that rule, because piles of tackle sounds like a good thing to me! i balanced the checkbooks today, so im all set to go

#2 is give yourself plenty of time. I like at least a few hours. I go row by row, item by item. Handle the rods.......look at the reels. Check out the camping and clothing (although I seldom buy their camping or clothing).

the trip is our manly get away when the girls are doing all their girl stuff. if that doesnt scream all the time in the world i dont know what does. when women get together, plan on 5 hours longer than they say it will be.

#4 my only knock with Bass Pro is that the lighting could be better. I like to go during the day for that reason. The lighting at the Cabelas stores are much better.

thats actually a business technique ;) they save energy AND, heres the real reason, its like you are a fish under water! everything is darker, so what you see is more what the fish will!  ;D

as for the soft plastics, their triple ripple grubs are pretty nice. i got some as a gift many years ago and they are long gone now, but they did produce very well.
