Truth be known, I'd say that my GPS is not likely on for more than 2 hours over a 2-week trip.  That includes time for me to log various things I see in route to remember where I saw them.  For navigation purposes, the usage is probably less than 30 minutes, if that.  But I know that its there and it is one source of backup map should some ill befall my printed copy.
