Title: St Croix River

My son, who is a Marine, will be home on leave next week. Along with Snowdog, we are looking for a one day fishing trip on the St Croix. Any tips, advice? PMs are welcome. It will be his first & only fishing trip since 2008, so we want to make it memorable. ;) [smiley=dankk2.gif]

I have nothing to add on the fishing info, but if I may be so bold too say, I think in your sons eyes just being with his Dad and Uncle is what will make any outing memorable, good fishing or not ;)

I can only imagine the pride you feel for you son, especially his serving his country in these perilous times as a Marine. I'm sure he feels the same way about being One of the Few, the Proud the Marines 8-)

I should probably add that none of us have fished the St Croix before, so it would be new water for us.

Another possibility is that we may go to Lake Pepin on the mighty (flooded) Old Man River. I saw that a stringer of six waldos went 37+ lbs last weekend. We could 'settle' for that... I even heard where they were caught.

Taylors Falls to Wm. O'Brien State Park is a great day float.
