I spent a few days last year paddling the area you mention Curt. Actually it was surprisingly nice with a fair amount of wildlife about. Fishing was poor however and I suspect that the fish gravitate to certain stretches of river. Given time I'm sure we could of come to some sort of understanding.

This year I brought my mountain bike instead as they have a fantastic trail system which borders the river for many, many miles.
