I will be purchasing a Steri-Pen this weekend. REI has them on sale through Labor Day.

I've been a long time First Need Water Purifier user and have touted its benefits numerous times and I standby all that I have said about it being the absolute safest filter available, ease of use and the best benefit of all is that it improves the taste of the water.
However, in the interest of saving both weight and time and having my hydration needs met most immediately I've become a "middle of the lake" drinker on my solo trips. There have been times though when I find myself thirsty and on water that I don't fully trust. For those times I have resorted to iodine tablets and that works ok but I really like what the Steri-Pen offers in those situations.
