I was paddling up west side of bear island, contemplating it's name.  I was sure that a bear might have visited it, but certainly not live on it....as I rounded the N side of the island, i saw a strange log in the water....is it moving?

It was moving and I began to race it, but it was much faster than me....I lost ground as I had to dig out my camera and use whatever settings were on the dial....it beat me to the shoreline and was bugging out

I swung the boat around and gave a loud grunt and got it to stop for a shaky pic...then it was gone!

Perhaps "Bear Island" is a fitting moniker after all!
