Moonman I have been using these for over 20 years and have never had one open up. Of course I use these specifically for light line applications.....primarily cranks which have much better action with the light stuff. These are far stealthier than crosslock snaps as well. Tiny by comparison. What I especially like about them is I am able to tie light line and get a solid connection. For example.......the thought of tying 6lb test to a split ring on a tail dancer is out of the question in my book. But I can pull it off with ease with these little clips. It is all about matching the diameter of the mono to what ever I'm tying to. 6lb makes a general poor connection to an oval shaped split ring IMO. That example is more of a specialty application (calm, sunny day and I still want walleye) but why not have all my cranks rigged with the clips? They work just as well with 8lb test. At 10lb and above I omit the little clips and tie direct to rings. BTW, I don't take them on and off but leave the clip on the lure and retie. No bigey since I retie often anyway. |
