An Evangelical preacher is pressured to promote George Bush and the Republicans during Bush's first run to the White House. This is a book about his thoughts on religion and politics and why they should stay separate.

An interesting read, no matter what your bias is.

Mr Boyd is a Christian Anarchist who doesn't pledge any allegiance to any form of government whatsoever. Period.......George Bush or otherwise.

He lost about 20% of his congregation when he insisted that they not be involved politically. Sour Grapes?

Even the title seems to be a contradiction in terms...........

But It is still likely he might have some very interesting things to say...........I try and stay "open minded"

Christianity is a very big tent, lots of differing interpretations of Scripture. I can have fellowship with most folks as long as the fundamentals are agreed to (since when did being a fundamentalist become a bad thing anyway).

If you ever though I meant that, I didn't, and sorry if my meaning wasn't clear and sounded that way.
I do think when preachers are talking politics, I consider them wearing a different hat than when they are preaching the word of God. We're all of this world and have our own opinions. The good thing is, no matter how loud or meek we are. We each have our own, and only one vote. We should all use it wisely.

Again let me be clear. I wasn't trying to label you as "bad". I was giving a different opinion.

Hmmmmm. Still trying to avoid the pitfalls of "talking on line". When I asserted that being a "fundamentalist" as not being a bad thing I was speaking in a generalized sense Jim and not directly to you.

That is a tack that I take a bit to often and it can be difficult to differentiate my intent (that is, wether I speak in a generalized fashion or a direct personal response).

With that being the case the apology resides on my part Jim as you have been gentlemanly throughout.
