I will let you know how the trip turns out.  We're outfitting through Wildwaters for boats and misc., otherwise bringing our own gear.  We definitely chose east to west because of the train and travel involved.  Westbound means you're leaving in the dark.  If we were close enough to drive and get there at a decent hour, we might have gone that route.

Thanks for you input.  I might pick your brain for a few more details and advice if you don't mind.  Like dd mentioned, the outfitter tells me there are some laker lakes.  I'm hoping for that.  I'm happy to hear the fishing is that good - we're expecting they'll just jump in the boat!
