Title: Quetico Fishing contest
Post by Jon on Feb 26th, 2012 at 2:21am
After running on the treadmill for hours watching fishing shows I had an epiphany. I really have no respect for fat guys in power boats and electronic gizmos galore sitting above a school of fish dropping hooked leaches in front of them. Seems more like aqua harvesting than fishing. I propose a Quiet Journey fishing contest on Kawnipi at the entrance to Mackenzie bay where there are several large campsites in June of 2013/2014 or 2015. Each entrant could put in $50 or $100 or some other agreed upon amount. All entrants would gather at the largest site each morning at 6AM or so and throw their name in a hat. After drawing partners fish together until noon. Draw a new partner at 1PM and fish until 6. (Or draw a new partner at 4 and fish until 9PM). Do this for 2 days and split the pot between biggest fish and most fish. Partners verify catches and could even provide photographic evidence. Could break it down by species or do another area. Could break up into different camps, MT could lead the right wing Jesus freaks, Azelea could have a liberal academia campsite, somebody else could establish the 420 friendly site and so on.  I think we would all get along fabulously irregardless of our personal proclivities if we were in the Quetico fishing together. These are the thoughts that 3.5 hours on a treadmill can excite.
