IMO - an RABC wouldn't be required to paddle into the US after a legal entry into Canada.

Not too long ago I read that Canada was lightening up on some 'undesirable' restrictions. It didn't matter to me much ... but I believe it had something to do with an attempt to address a decrease in tourism revenue. 

FWIW I agree w/ a US outfitter arranging for your put-in. You may be able to fly out of Crane for a comparable price.  Personally, I think you're overthinkin it. Someone still needs to transport the canoe the other way.
