Hey all, I've just joined and have been searching these fantastic archives of trips.

I'm planning a trip for the last week of August and have my entry permit for Lizz Lake. It is only going to be a 4 night trip, not planning on making it too strenuous as I'm bringing my son who -- while intrepid and a born wanderer -- is only 10. So, the bulk of the portages are on my *cough* shoulders.

Entry will be after canoing across Poplar (how is the wind there?), into Lizz. Probably camp on Lizz, but then portage into Caribou the next day, camp and fish (I hope) for 2 days. Then back the way we came. Or IF the weather is fantastic and IF the pixie is hooked on canoeing and IF the portages go well, I was wondering about doing a one-way trip continuing into Horseshoe/Brule River, then Jake, exiting at Morgan Lake. Can we do one-way trips on a regular permit? I can't remember. Been too many years since I was there.

Last time was 1982. 1983 in the Q.

Looking for opinions...good, bad, indifferent...especially if there is any recent experience with the portages in that neck of the woods. Blowdowns?
