Hi, My name is DD and I'm a "gizmo gear-aholic"

Guilty as charged!

However, in this case there is some method to my madness.  I'm working on putting together a fly-in/fly-out trip for next season.  If my usual padding partner comes along, that means two canoes (since we both paddle solo craft).  Unfortunately, we will not be able to fly two canoes on a single plane. So there are two possible solutions ... take two different planes (estimated individual cost per flight would be in the ballpark of $500) or make one plane each way and take one canoe as "gear."  So, the foldable canoe solution could save me about 1/2 the flying costs.

As for driving ... putting a canoe on my roof cuts my mileage about 3 miles per gallon.  Since I drive LONG distances to canoe waters, there is also the additional savings in gasoline.

All that is true ... but I'm still a gear junkie (besides, I needed a new toy to play with!).

Now on to a portage yoke solution.  Anyone ever try something like this?
